Where Palisades does best in Austin
Palisades is our top pick for most Austin yards. It wants 6 to 7 hours of sun, handles high foot traffic and pets, and its deep roots cope well with both Hill Country limestone and Blackland clay. Drought tolerance is high and maintenance is low. It held up through the 2021 freeze, and a regular rotary mower works fine on it. Once established it needs about 1 inch of water a week in summer. Water no more than twice a week, since overwatering Zoysia invites large patch.
How much Palisades Zoysia do you need?
One pallet of Palisades Zoysia covers about 450 sq ft. Measure the area in square feet, divide by 450 and round up, then add 5 to 10% for cuts around beds, trees and curves. A 2,000 sq ft yard, for example, comes to 5 pallets before that extra. Our delivery minimum is 1 pallet, brought out on a flatbed. The sod calculator does the math for you, and this guide walks through measuring an odd-shaped yard.
Lead time and delivery
Palisades Zoysia is a special-order variety with a 1 to 3 business day lead time, so call to confirm availability before you plan your install day. We deliver across Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Georgetown, Kyle, Buda and Leander, and delivery pricing depends on distance and order size.
Installation and ground prep
Our crew can prep the ground and lay it for you. Most yards just need light raking, uneven ones get topsoil and grading, and lawns full of old grass or weeds get a full sod removal and renovation first. See how sod installation works.
