When a lawn needs to come out, not get patched
Laying new sod on top of an old lawn doesn't work. The old grass and weeds keep growing up through it, the new roots never reach the soil, and you end up with the same patchy yard a season later. When a yard has a lot of existing grass or weeds, the fix is to take it all out first. It's the most thorough ground prep we offer and it gives the best long-term result.
What the job includes
Is full removal the right call for your yard?
Ground prep depends on what's there now. We'll tell you which one your yard needs when we quote it:
Picking the new grass
A renovation is a chance to fix whatever was wrong with the old lawn. If St. Augustine kept thinning under your trees, Palmetto or Zeon Zoysia handle shade better. If dogs wore paths through it, Celebration Bermuda recovers fastest. If the water bill was the problem, TifTuf uses 38% less water than standard Bermuda. Compare them all on the sod for sale page.
