Where Raleigh does best in Austin
Raleigh is a full-sun grass. Give it 6 to 7 hours of direct sun and it fills in fast and thick, and it adapts well to the Blackland clay and limestone soils around Austin. It thins out under trees, so if more than a third of your yard is shaded most of the day, Palmetto or Amerishade is a better fit. Foot traffic tolerance is medium, so dog runs and play areas do better with Bermuda or Zoysia. Drought tolerance is also medium: plan on about 1 to 1.5 inches of water a week in summer.
How much Raleigh St. Augustine do you need?
One pallet of Raleigh St. Augustine covers about 450 sq ft. Measure the area in square feet, divide by 450 and round up, then add 5 to 10% for cuts around beds, trees and curves. A 2,000 sq ft yard, for example, comes to 5 pallets before that extra. Our delivery minimum is 1 pallet, brought out on a flatbed. The sod calculator does the math for you, and this guide walks through measuring an odd-shaped yard.
Lead time and delivery
We'll confirm availability and a delivery date when we quote your job. We deliver across Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Georgetown, Kyle, Buda and Leander, and delivery pricing depends on distance and order size.
Installation and ground prep
Our crew can prep the ground and lay it for you. Most yards just need light raking, uneven ones get topsoil and grading, and lawns full of old grass or weeds get a full sod removal and renovation first. See how sod installation works.
